Who We Are

Mycelia Specialty Mushrooms is the brain child of Rebecca O’Connor. Rebecca learned about farming in the fields and barns of her family’s Mennonite farm in eastern Ohio. Now a science and special education teacher in the Rochester City School District, Rebecca has been slowly cultivating her expertise in farming mushrooms from courses at Cornell University, national consultations, and extensive trial and error. Mycelia Specialty Mushrooms is the product of intensive study, extensive experience, and dedication to growing the best possible specialty mushrooms.

Our Mission

At Mycelia Specialty Mushrooms, we pride ourselves on growing exquisite specialty mushrooms using organic supplies and hydroponic methods.  We focus on specialty mushrooms such as Oyster, Lion’s Mane, and Shiitake because they are healthy and actually quite beautiful — as our mushroom bouquets demonstrate. Mushrooms, particularly grown using organic and hydroponic methods, also represent a model for sustainable farming, which drives all of our farming methods and practices.

Why Choose Us

Sustainable Practices: Every aspect of our operation is designed to reduce waste and carbon footprint, from our packaging to our EV transportation.

Local and Fresh: By sourcing locally and supporting our community, we’re proud to contribute to Rochester’s vibrant food ecosystem.

Quality You Can Taste: Our mushrooms are cultivated with care and delivered at their peak of freshness and nutritional value.
